Brewers of Pennsylvania Meet with State Lawmakers to Discuss 2026-27 Legislative Priorities
Members of the Brewers of Pennsylvania (BOP) Legislative Committee met with members of the Pennsylvania Legislature, along with legislative staff, to discuss key policy priorities impacting Pennsylvania's independent brewing industry as lawmakers begin shaping the Commonwealth's 2026-27 budget and legislative agenda.
The discussions focused on several initiatives aimed at supporting continued growth, investment, and job creation within Pennsylvania's craft brewing sector. Among the priorities highlighted were proposals to make Pennsylvania's Malt Beverage Tax Credits transferable, allowing brewers to sell unused credits to other businesses with eligible tax liabilities and improving access to capital for brewery expansion and modernization.
Brewers also advocated for legislation that would allow breweries to operate up to five satellite locations, creating parity with wine and spirits license holders and providing additional opportunities to reach consumers across the Commonwealth.
Additional topics included modernizing regulations to allow breweries greater flexibility in utilizing existing brewing equipment for the production of distilled spirits and establishing a clear regulatory framework for hemp-derived THC beverages to ensure consumer safety and fair marketplace standards.
The BOP Legislative committee also discussed House Bill 2234 and House Bill 2340, two measures of importance to Pennsylvania's brewing community that seek to modernize alcohol-related regulations and promote economic opportunities for locally owned breweries and manufacturers.
