Representative Quinn Becomes Brewer For A Day

District 143 Legislator Visits Round Guys Brewing Company

HARRISBURG, PA (9.7.18) – The Brewers of Pennsylvania (BOP), the state’s official beer guild, was pleased and honored to host Representative Marguerite Quinn at the latest Brewer For A Day event held at Round Guys Brewing Company in Lansdale on September 5, 2018.  This was the BOP’s thirteenth successful Brewer For A Day event, an initiative designed to give state legislators a hands-on, insider’s perspective on the brewing process, as well as further educate Pennsylvania Senators and Representatives on the direct economic impact craft brewers have on communities throughout the state.

Rep. Quinn with Scott Ruddich, Owner & Brewmaster of Round Guys Brewing Co.

Rep. Quinn received an up-close brewing experience where she toured the brewery, weighed hops, analyzed malts, and assisted with the brewing process that helps Round Guys produce some of Pennsylvania’s finest craft beers.

“Thanks to Representative Quinn for taking the time to visit with us,” said Scott Ruddich, owner of Round Guys Brewing Company. “The Pennsylvania craft beer industry is thriving, and all PA brewers look to our local legislators for continued support to grow it even more. We enjoyed hosting Representative Quinn, and appreciate her interest in learning about what it takes to produce really good craft beer.”

Rep. Quinn, Pa. District 143, serves Bucks County.

“I’d like to thank everyone at Round Guys for letting me experience being a Brewer For A Day,” said Representative Quinn. “I have been a strong supporter of the policies that are helping grow the craft beer industry in Pennsylvania and create good jobs. I was impressed not just with the beer making process, but with all the factors that go into making this industry an economic driver, and community builder.”

Representative Quinn took part in the thirteenth Brewer For A Day event, a program that launched in 2016. The BOP and its members will take advantage of the popularity of the Brewer For A Day program by hosting many more events throughout 2018 and beyond. In July, 2016, Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, signed a $1.3 billion revenue package. Part of that package included a Malt Beverage Tax Credit not to exceed $5 million annually. The tax credit, matching equipment and facilities investments made by applicant breweries, has been one of the BOP’s top legislative goals since 2013. The BOP fully supports this tax credit measure, and considers it a major victory for all craft breweries in the Commonwealth, particularly smaller breweries as the benefits of the measure is capped at $200,000 per year, per brewery. From 2016 to current day, many BOP members have greatly benefited from the Malt Beverage Tax Credit.
